Open House has been an all-day event that draws earth science enthusiasts of all ages to our beautiful Palisades, New York, campus for more than 50 years. This diverse audience includes families, school children, scout groups, undergraduate and graduate students, and adults, each with a passion to learn more about our planet. Activities encompass the breadth of the Observatory’s research initiatives. Young and old, everyone leaves Open House inspired by new knowledge and a better understanding of how the earth works.
In 2021, Open House is going virtual, with two days of programming planned from October 13 - 14 so that viewers will be able to discover earth science from home.
Open House is only one of many ways that the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory is committed to educating the next generation and sustaining the planet. With your support, you make possible our scientific research, education programs, and the transformation of our science into solutions through collaborations with engineers, public health specialists, policymakers and others.
