The Changing Face of Ice: Expeditions to Antarctica with Scientists and Artists

What is it like to be an artist-in-residence on a science research vessel? Hear firsthand from artists Marlo Garnsworthy and Karen Romano Young, who served as Outreach Officers on JOIDES Resolution expeditions to Antarctica. They are joined by Lamont scientists Indrani Das and Nichole Anest, who explain the scientific importance of the regions the artists traveled in and the methods of sampling the teams used aboard the ship. Plus, hear IODP education officer Sharon Cooper talk about the IODP (International Ocean Discovery Program), an international coalition of research institutions that is headquartered at Lamont and which manages the JOIDES Resolution.
